Ujima – Collective Work & Responsibility. “To build and maintain our community together and to make our Brother’s and sister’s problems, our problems and to solve them together.”
Under this Kwanzaa organizing principle, Ujima Farmer’s Market is held every second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Organized by Source Farms based in St. Thomas, the market provides a much needed outlet for farmers selling pesticide free organic fresh produce such as limes, bananas, herbs like basil and kale. In addition, value added products like healthy drinks and cassava chips, cannabis infused jams are available. The market’s hours are from 10.00 am to 3 pm. The location is at the Chinese Cultural Centre on 22 Barbican Road next to Orchid Village Plaza and opposite Burger King.
For those who want to sell in the market, they can do so if their products meet the criteria. The cost of a table is $5,000. Ujima Natural Farmers’ Market contact number is 587-2310.
